Origin Story

Taoist Cosmology

Yuanshi Tianzun presides over a specific domain within the elaborate Taoist heavens — a thirty-two-layered cosmos where deities administer the affairs of creation. Each celestial official has a defined office, a celestial palace, and an administrative responsibility that maintains the cosmic balance.

Yuanshi Tianzun is the supreme Taoist deity and the first of the Three Pure Ones. In the Investiture of the Gods, he leads the Chan Sect and dispenses celestial offices to worthy mortals after the Shang-Zhou war.
