The only woman among the Eight Immortals: legends gathered in 《续仙传》 and 《东游记》 tell of He XianGu of Yongzhou, who was instructed in a dream to eat powdered mica and so ascended, ever youthful, a lotus blossom in hand that lights her way. Temple paintings show her in soft robes, the glowing lotus her emblem.
