Immortal Li Tieguai Wallpaper

This wallpaper depicts Immortal Li Tieguai (铁拐李), one of the most beloved figures in Chinese mythology. The composition follows the traditional iconography recorded in classical texts and centuries of temple murals, water-land ritual paintings and New-Year prints — not an invented modern design.

The Eight Immortals legend cycle, collected in 《东游记》 (Journey to the East), tells how the handsome Li left his body in a trance, returned too late to reclaim it, and had to enter the corpse of a lame beggar — hence the iron crutch and the gourd of elixirs that pours out endless marvels. 《续仙传》 (Continued Biographies of Immortals) preserves the earlier, straighter version.
