Earth God Tu Di Gong Wallpaper

This wallpaper depicts Earth God Tu Di Gong (土地公), one of the most beloved figures in Chinese mythology. The composition follows the traditional iconography recorded in classical texts and centuries of temple murals, water-land ritual paintings and New-Year prints — not an invented modern design.

The earth god descends from the soil-and-grain cult prescribed in 《礼记·祭法》 (Book of Rites): the people sacrifice to the local tutelary spirit of their village. 《搜神记》 (In Search of the Supernatural) already knows him. The humblest of gods, he keeps the friendliest form — a small smiling white-bearded elder with staff and ingot, his shrine no bigger than a stone box at the field's edge.
