Overview
Mount Emei is one of the Four Sacred Buddhist Mountains of China, associated with the bodhisattva Samantabhadra (Puxian). Its misty peaks, ancient temples, and sea of clouds have inspired pilgrims and poets for two millennia.

Buddhist Heritage
Buddhism arrived at Mount Emei in the 1st century CE, making it one of the oldest Buddhist sites in China. The mountain is dedicated to Samantabhadra (Puxian Pusa), the bodhisattva of universal benevolence and practice.
At the summit stands the Golden Summit (Jinding), with its 48-meter-tall golden statue of Samantabhadra, visible for miles across the sea of clouds that frequently blankets the mountain.
